Poem: First Flight

(I’m good. Great really.— I’m lying through my teeth.)

Check it: hopelessness.

Check it: suggestive animal death.

Check it: guns.

Humans are monsters.

First Flight

first flight
of dawn
brings peace
and calm

or it would
can you believe
this first flight
in dawn’s relief

that some where close
not far at all
stands the one who
causes this flight’s fall

the gun is leveled perfect
taught well to master aim
to seize the early moment
when they take first flight

I don’t know if this poetry set up has a name, but I think it’s cute. Four four line stanzas with increasing word counts 2, 3, 4, and 5.
